Nagpur: The education department has revised the Std XI Centralized Admission Procedure (
CAP) timetable to be in line with the Nagpur bench of Bombay high court’s recent order regarding surrendered in-house quota seats.
The third merit list will be declared on Tuesday with admissions beginning the same day and ending on August 2. The final vacancy and cut-off list for the third round of CAP will be displayed on August 3.
In its July 25 order, the bench headed by Justice BP Adhikari and Justice ZA Haq had directed the education department to include surrendered in-house quota seats of minority institutions in upcoming CAP rounds. Accordingly, the department activated an online link for minority colleges to surrender their vacant in-house quota seats.
After the third round is over, the education department will initiate process for round four from August 3 itself. By this Saturday students will have to fill up their preferences, if any change, for round four admissions. On August 7, the department will display the fourth merit list and admissions will have to completed by August 9.
The online CAP, which started in Nagpur from June 2017, has been running into obstacles ever since. This year, some colleges knocked on the HC’s doors after noticing major lapses in the process of seat allocation and ultimately got the process on track. Still many academicians strongly feel that Nagpur’s previous version of CAP was much better.
Sanjay Charalwar, principal of Mohta Science College, said, “The offline centralized admission version of our city was excellent and had been in place for over a decade. There was a lot of transparency and very few complaints during that period.” Madhusudhan Mude, principal of Major Hemant Jakate College, said, “My college was not visible to students on the first day of bifocal preference applications. This error would never have happened in our previous avataar of CAP.”
