Police bodycam video shows fatal shooting

"He's got a gun." "Put your ****ing hands up now." Minneapolis police released body camera footage on Sunday that shows the chase and shooting death of Thurman Blevins.

It's the latest in a string of U.S. police killings that have at times sparked nationwide protests.

In this case, police were responding to reports of a man firing a weapon.

Upon arrival, 31 year old Blevins fled.

The video then shows officers ordering Blevins to stop and drop his weapon and warning him that they'll shoot him.

And that's what happened.

When they caught up with Blevins in an alley, they fired more than a dozen shots.

Relatives of Blevins say he was only holding a bottle in the June 23rd incident... though another video shows what police say is a gun and later an officer kicking a firearm away from Blevins on the ground. "Cover me, I'm gonna kick the gun." Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey calls the images traumatic... but says the video's release is important for transparency.

The officers were put on administrative leave, while the investigation continues.
