VARIOUS OF DUST STIRRED UP FROM LANDSLIDES SURROUNDING HIKERS ON MOUNTAIN TRAIL STORY: Footage filmed by hikers on and near Mount Rinjani on Indonesia's tourist island of Lombok show them fleeing the area following a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on Sunday (July 29).
The videos obtained by Reuters show tourists fleeing their hotel, running over cracks in the ground and landslides sending clouds of dust into the air.
A series of videos also shows a long stream of hikers descending the volcanic mountain as gravel slipped away from below their feet and dust clouded their view.
Officials said the death toll from Sunday's earthquake, which was centred on the northern part of Lombok, stood at 16.
More than 335 people were injured, many by collapsing buildings.
The quake struck on Sunday at a shallow depth of 4.35 miles (7 km) which amplified its effect.
Officials said 280 aftershocks followed the initial quake.
Earthquakes are common in Indonesia, which is located on the seismically active "Ring of Fire" on the rim of the Pacific Ocean.
