ERODE: Courses in AYUSH [Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homoeopathy] medical systems will also be brought under NEET from next year and the Centre is taking steps to bring the required changes in law for it, BJP national committee member and Rajya Sabha MP Ila Ganesan told news persons here on Saturday.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a BJP campaign committee function. The BJP, he said, had already begun its campaign in Tamil Nadu for the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Some days back, party president Amit Shah met booth committee members at Chennai and gave them the required advice.

The BJP’s campaign would highlight the Central government’s achievements since it came to power in 2014, which have not been accomplished since independence by other governments. They party would select 50 people at the State level to train them for it, he said.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi had criticised GST, demonetisation, rise in fuel prices, etc, during the debate on no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government in parliament and plans to continue with the criticism during the 2019 election campaign. But just as the no-confidence motion was defeated, the Congress would be defeat in the election, he added.

Those who were paying tax properly have welcomed GST and demonetisation. There are helplines if traders want to clarify their doubts about GST. The changes made in GST have led to rise in government incomes, he added.

The previous Congress government had used income-tax raids to threaten DMK to support it, but with its comfortable majority, the present BJP government does not need such tactics. There is thus no connection between income-tax raids and Centre. These are conducted to collect details of tax evasion. All those being raided are not criminals, but the guilty will be punished, he said.

Ganesan asserted that the Centre is coordinating with all States, including the Tamil Nadu government. He also wished former Chief Minister Karunanidhi speedy recovery and criticised rumours spread through social media about his health.

Such rumours had led to many people being killed in the country suspecting that they were child lifters.
Action is taken if an individual spreads rumours, but no action is taken if a group does it. This culture was created by the Congress following Indira Gandhi’s assassination, when hundreds of Sikhs were killed in Delhi, he said.
