A magnitude-6.4 earthquake has struck the Indonesian resort island of Lombok, killing at least 14 people.  The US Geological Survey says the quake occurred at 6:47 AM, local time, on Sunday.

Indonesian disaster management officials say they have confirmed the deaths of 10 people. They say 40 others have been injured.

Footage from Lombok shows collapsed houses and a medical facility with its roof destroyed in a town on the east of the island.

An official from country’s Disaster Mitigation Agency said, the number of casualties could increase as data was still being collected from other locations on the island. He said, East Lombok district was the hardest hit with 10 deaths. He said, the quake has triggered a large landslide near Mount Rinjani.
