Bugatti Teases All You’d Ever Likely See (And Hear) Of The New Divo

Bugatti is preparing to unveil the Divo at Pebble Beach next month. But before it does, it’s released this short teaser video on Facebook. And it shows all we’re ever likely to see of the new hypercar.

For those just joining us, the Divo is expected to take the form of a coachbuilt and more driver-focused version of the Chiron. Like that model (and the Veyron before it), the Divo draws its name from one of Bugatti’s pre-war grand prix drivers – in this case Albert Divo, who won the Targa Florio twice from behind the wheel of one of Ettore’s finest.

The Alsatian marque has taken pains to avoid the Chiron name, suggesting that it will be rather comprehensively rebodied with a new form, even if it’s draped over the same architecture that underpins the existing model. It’s also supposed to be geared more towards handling than high-speed grand touring, indicating that it will likely feature more aggressive aero, a tighter suspension, and possibly a lighter curb weight as well.

Those ingredients will add up to even more of a driver’s tool than the Chiron Sport. It will, in all likelihood, pack a version of the same 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine, which produces 1,479 horsepower (1,103 kW) and 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) of torque in the existing Chiron. And it’s tipped to cost around $6 million and be produced in extremely limited quantities of just 40 units.

Evidently designed to keep us on our toes, this teaser video provides but a glimpse at the Divo’s taillights and an ear-full of its exhaust note – the only two elements of the vehicle we’d ever see (in the unlikely event that we’d encounter one out on the open road). You can count on it being that fast. But we’ll at least get to see photos of the vehicle when it’s unveiled in Monterey, alongside the new Sky View roof option for the Chiron, on August 24.
