33rd foundation conference of Communist Marxist Party held in capital

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala has accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of having shown scant regard for the tragic plight of the flood-hit people of Kuttanad.

Inaugurating the 33rd foundation conference of the Communist Marxist Party (CMP) here on Friday, Mr. Chennithala said the Chief Minister’s attitude was reflective of the government stand on several burning issues of the people.

The Chief Minister had not cared to even visit the flood-affected people.

This was proof that he was afraid to face the people, he said. Chairing the inaugural function, CMP general secretary C.P. John accused the LDF government of having failed to launch even a single major project. All that the Pinarayi Vijayan government had done so far was to carry on the projects initiated by the last United Democratic Front (UDF) government.

Although the government spoke much about its social sector initiatives, it could not provide shelter to the needy. Officers were afraid to take decisions and governance was at a standstill, he said.

Shashi Tharoor, MP, delivered the keynote address at the function at which the State best actor award winner Indrans was honoured. The logo of the CMP Congress, being held at Kochi from January 27 to 29, 2019, was also released at the function.
