Heavy downpour to continue in many areas of U’khand

It rained across the State with varied intensity on Friday. However, the State Met department said that the intensity of the rain generally would come down from Saturday onwards till the end of the month and the spell would start again with vigour from August 1. However, the department warned of heavy to very heavy rain at some places in the state on Saturday. The districts which are likely to have heavy to very heavy downpour on the day include Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh.

Meanwhile, Dehradun experienced intermittent rain for the second consecutive day on Friday. The rain continued till the evening when the report was being filed.

As per the weather department, the wet spell would continue for the next 24 hours at some places across the state, including Dehradun. However, in the rest of the state, the intensity of the rain might come down a bit from Saturday onwards for a few days to regain intensity from August 1.

Many of the roads of the city were waterlogged on the second consecutive day on Friday with the rain spell continuing. Traffic snarls were witnessed on many of the important stretches of the city too on the day.
