Priyanka Chopra’s decision to leave Bharat came as a surprise to both, producers and fans. A while ago, she was indulging in a Twitter banter with film’s hero Salman Khan. It was also said that Priyanka was handsomely paid for Bharat, and the film was projected as her long awaited return to Bollywood after creating a niche in the west.

Now, she has quit the film and but not another one with Farhan Akhtar, The Sky is Pinl. There are speculations rife that she left director Ali Abbas Zafar’s film because she wasn’t happy with her role in the film. Pinkvilla has quoted a source saying that Priyanka feared her role might suffer because of the new actors taken on board.

The source said, “Initially, she was very happy about her role as PeeCee is there right from the beginning to the end as the film is about a couple who fall in love, get married and grow old together as their life keeps coming in flashbacks. But while Priyanka was in the US, she kept getting news about other actors getting added to the cast.”

The source added, “First came Disha Patani (and her role was increased), then Tabu and Nora Fatehi and all had roles specially created for them. Apparently, Salman is taking the call for these roles so PeeCee thought that she might face the same problem that Jacqueline Fernandez faced in Race 3 – of getting sidelined by Daisy Shah and the rest.”

Bharat is slated to be released on Eid, 2019.
