Indore: On the eighth day of nation-wide strike called by transporters, the agitated truckers prevented the onion-loaded trucks to move out from Devi Ahilya Fruits and Vegetable Mandi. Barring this incident, the strike went off peacefully in the city and there was no movement of trucks on the roads.
On Friday afternoon, transporters came to know that some trucks were moving out from the mandi. About 30 transporters rushed to mandi gate and stopped drivers. About 40 trucks carrying onions were to move out from mandi out of which 20 had already passed.
Chaos prevailed for one hour at mandi gate. Rajendra Nagar police rushed to the spot to avoid unpleasant situation. Rajesh Shardiya, mandi inspector, said there is no restriction on movement of trucks in the mandi. Vegetables are brought to mandi in mini trucks. Though the arrival of fruits is being affected due to strike, their rates are stable.
