CHENNAI: An unidentified
gang attacked a 29-year-old
German national while he was walking on
Marina Beach here in the early hours of Saturday. The incident happened around 3am.
Police said The Hao, who came to Chennai for treatment on his nose, was staying in a hotel on the Bells Road at Triplicane.
The gang approached him when he was standing near the
Kannagi statue. The gang tried to snatch his mobile phone. However, he overpowered them. “But, soon, they started to attack him with a knife, logs and stones. He suffered injuries on his head. They snatched his expensive sunglass and fled the scene," said an investigating officer.
The Anna Square police station registered a case and further investigations were on.
