Man kills wife before daughter, hangs self

In an utterly cruel act, a man killed his wife in front of their five-year-old daughter and later hanged himself to death over a family feud at Majhi Sahi under Baripada panchayat in Baleswar district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Buddhiram Majhi (32) and his wife Tiki (28).

Sources said the couple, who had married six years ago, had a verbal duel over some issues in evening.

The situation took an ugly turn when Buddhiram, in a fit of rage, started beating his wife with a stick killing her on the spot.

What was more shocking was that Buddhiram, after killing Tiki, called up his mother-in-law and confessed his crime and later handed over the phone to his daughter. In the meantime, Buddhiram hanged himself to death near his wife’s body.

Later, Tiki’s parents reached the house and found their daughter in a pool of blood and son-in-law hanging from the ceiling of the house.

They immediately informed police, following which cops rushed to the spot and started an investigation.

“My daughter used to say that her husband was suspecting her of cheating on him. Both used to fight over the matter frequently, ” said Tiki’s mother Sumati Majhi.
