Earns an additional ₹1 crore through its parcel service

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has raked in an additional ₹1 crore through its parcel service during the one week from July 20 when the truckers were on strike .

After ending its lease with a private organisation, the APSRTC had recently started its own parcel service.

“On an average, the corporation earns ₹6 crore through the parcel service every month. This month, it has raked in ₹1 crore additionally because of the truckers’ strike,” Chief Traffic Manager (Commercial) N. Gopinath Reddy told The Hindu on Saturday. “The corporation provides door-to-door parcel collection and delivery services to the customers and earns about ₹70 crore per annum on that count,” Mr. Gopinath Reddy said. “The commercial wing does business worth ₹6 crore every month through bulk, contract, and parcel bookings. Customers are satisfied with the services,” said Executive Director (Commercial) N. Venkateswara Rao. “The corporation is operating 126 parcel counters in depots across the State, and about 200 agents have been appointed, including 25 in Telangana,” he said. “The growth in business is 33%,” Mr. Reddy said, and lauded the efforts of the staff.
