Guwahati, AICC general secretary Harish Rawat today slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the starvation death of three children in the national capital.
“Earlier, there were reports of people dying of starvation and malnourishment in far areas, like Jharkhand or Chattisgarh. But, now, three children have died right under the nose of the Prime Minister, but the PM is unconcerned,” Rawat said, addressing a press conference here.
“For BJP, all issues are only for votes,” he added.
On the recent cow deaths in the country, Rawat said, “For BJP, everything starts from Bharat Mata to reach ‘Gau (cow) mata’. But when it comes to the real issues, they are unbothered.”
Referring to Congress president and MP Rahul Gandhi’s recent speech in the Lok Sabha during the No-Confidence Motion, Rawat said the speech has laid the narrative for a united Opposition for 2019 general elections and also, exposed the failures of the Modi-led government.
On Congress’ possible PM candidate for 2019, he said, “All the parties that are Congress allies will decide on the PM candidate.”
