Constable placed under suspension for stealing

A day after a police constable was caught red-handed shop-lifting at a departmental store at Egmore, she has been placed under suspension and her husband arrested for thrashing the employees of the store.
On Wednesday, M Nandini went to the Nilgiris supermarket at Egmore in her uniform.

“The woman, who was speaking over phone, hid a few items, including chocolates in her pockets and did not get them billed. When a staff questioned her, she apologised and gave in writing that it was her mistake. Since the items she stole cost only Rs 150, we accepted her letter and took a xerox of her police identity card,” a staffer at the store said.

Two hours later, three men including her husband entered the shop and manhandled two staff as well as the owner.Subsequently, the staff of the store lodged a complaint with the Egmore police.

A departmental inquiry was conducted and Nandini was placed under suspension and her husband Dinesh was arrested by the city police. The police have also launched a hunt for two other men in connection to this case.
