Known for making controversial statements, BJP legislator from Bairiya Assembly segment  of Ballia Surendra Singh has now said that every Hindu couple must produce at least five children to keep ‘Hindutva’ intact.

Speakingto media persons in Ballia on Wednesday, Singh opined that what he said was necessary to keep Hindutva intact and advocated that Hindus must increase their population in India.

“It is the desire of every spiritual leader (mahant) that every Hindu couple should have a minimum of five children. This way Hindutva would remain intact,” Singh said.

Earlier, the BJP MLA drew flak for his controversial and pro-Hindutva remarks and only last month triggered a controversy by saying that even Lord Ram would not have been able to put an end to rising rape incidents.

On being asked about sudden spurt in rapes in the state, Singh had then said, “This is natural pollution, which has not left anybody untouched. It is people’s responsibility to treat others as their family, as their sisters. We can only control it through values, not the constitution.”

Not so long ago, Singh again hogged headlines by equating government officers with prostitutes. He said that prostitutes were better than officers in UP as they (prostitutes) take money and do whatever their clients ask them to do but in UP, officers take money (bribe) and there was no guarantee that they would do the work for which they have taken money.

The legislator also blasted Chief Minister and the party brass for the party’s defeat in the bypolls at Kairana and Noorpur.

Singh had said, “The entire government is involved in corruption and the people are not getting the benefit of welfare schemes. The people did not vote for the government as they are angry with the working of officers.”
