ICICI Bank posts loss of ₹120 crore in Q1
ICICI Bank on Friday reported a loss of ₹119.5 crore on standalone basis for the June quarter on account of rise in bad loans. The bank’s net profit in the year-ago period stood at ₹2,049 crore. Total income was ₹18,574.17 crore, against ₹16,847.04 crore in April-June, 2017-18, the bank said in a statement. The net profit on consolidated basis for the June quarter was a meagre ₹4.93 crore, compared to ₹2,604.73 crore a year ago.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday said the water of river Ganga, between Haridwar and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, was unfit for drinking and bathing, and expressed anguish over the situation. Innocent people drank and bathed in the river with reverence, without knowing that it may adversely affect their health, it said.
Discovery of dead foetus in plane lavatory: woman questioned, case filed
The Delhi Police has registered a case in connection with the recovery of a lifeless foetus from a lavatory of an AirAsia plane after it landed in New Delhi from Guwahati on Wenesday, a senior police officer said. The cabin crew was doing a routine check of the lavatories when they found the stillborn baby wrapped in toilet paper.

Imran Khan's political party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday claimed victory in the Pakistan general elections. Results released by the Election Commission of Pakistan showed that PTI has won 110 seats. The National Assembly has 272 seats in total and the halfway mark is 137 for a simple majority. Six-match ban for Sri Lanka opener Gunathilaka
Sri Lanka's cricket board on Friday slapped a six-match ban on batsman Danushka Gunathilaka for breaching player rules as police investigated the alleged rape of a Norwegian woman in his hotel room. Gunathilaka, 27, was questioned by police on Tuesday after his associate Sandeep Jude Selliah, 26, was accused of raping one of two Norwegian women with them in a room at the team hotel.
