Upgraded Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System put on soft launch

BHUBANESWAR: Moving a step forward to bring further efficiency and effectiveness in the functioning of the State Secretariat, an upgraded open source based version of Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System (OSWAS) has been put on soft-launch for making users familiar with it.
The new version of OSWAS was evaluated at a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the Secretariat here. While Principal Secretary of General Administration Ashok Kumar Meena outlined its technical, safety and security aspects, Padhi directed all departments to use the system and provide feedback for further customization of the software.
The IT department was asked to organize intensive training sessions for all users in phases taking not more than 25 officers in one batch. It was decided to put OSWAS under soft-launch up to August 14, 2018 so that users get adequate time to familiarise themselves with the new system. It was targeted to make the new system go live in September 2018 after necessary customization. Special Secretary, IT Rudra Narayan Pallai said the system will have in-built Odia plug-in for noting and drafting. It is mobile and clouds ready with web responsive design.
The system will have a robust disaster recovery link with OCAC, State, and National Data Centres. It will have features like 24x7 secure access, digital signature, online publishing of notices and circulars, SMS and email notification and real-time executive dashboard. The new system will also have principal applications like correspondence and file management, file processing, record room, knowledge bank, internal messaging, dash and notice board, MIS reports, audit management besides advanced search engine. Common applications like Assembly questions, RTI, online telephone directory as well as vehicle, tours and leave management will also be available in it.
The Chief Secretary directed to make its ‘search engine’ more user-friendly and build ‘court case management system’ in it. Among others, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Asit Kumar Tripathy, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Principal Secretary, IT CJ Venugopal, Principal Secretary, Water Resources Pradeep Kumar Jena, Principal Secretary, Rural Development Mona Sharma, Director, IIIT Gopal Nayak and senior officers participated in the deliberations.
