NAGPUR: The Nagpur bench of
Bombay high court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of
Kamble double murder accused Gudiya, wife of prime accused Ganesh Sahu.
A division bench comprising Justice Ravi Deshpande and Justice Arun Upadhye observed that prima facie her involvement in the gruesome murders of journalist Ravikant Kamble’s mother Usha and his one-and-half-year-old daughter
Rashi in February this year was proved.
Appearing for the prosecution, additional government pleader Sanjay Doifode and Kamble’s counsel Rajendra Daga opposed her plea stating that there was enough evidence available that she had indeed helped her husband Ganesh in executing the diabolic killing. He said all the witnesses in the case, right from those hearing cries of Rashi to handling gunny bags containing the bodies into the vehicle, had saw her with the husband. They said it was clear case of conviction.
Earlier, her bail was rejected by the district and sessions court after which she moved the HC. Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam has already been appointed in the case by the state government.
The 54-year-old grandmother and her granddaughter were brutally murdered by slitting their throats over a financial dispute in February by Sahu, who had a grocery shop near Kamble’s home. Their bodies were found, a couple of days later, under a culvert near Jai Ma Durga Layout on road towards Vihirgaon village. ACP with Kotwali police station Rajratna Bansod conducted the investigations and filed the charge sheet.
