Congolese officials say a cargo plane has crashed outside Kamako city in Kasai province, killing at least four people.

Local Tshikapa territory administrator Jean-Paul Kuzo tells the United Nations-backed Radio Okapi that two people survived and are being treated at Kamako General Hospital. Radio Okapi cites witnesses saying at least four people died.

Kuzo says teams have been dispatched to the scene to extinguish a fire caused by the crash.

Kasai's governor says seven people were on board the plane. A Congolese air regulations official says five are dead and two survived. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to speak to the media.

The cause of the accident is not yet known. The plane was on its way to Kabungu on the Angolan border.
