CHANDIGARH: A new ward of
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in
Department of Psychiatry at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research was inaugurated by
Director PGI,
Prof. Jagat Ram on Thursday.
Children and adolescents suffer from neuro-developmental disorders like intellectual sub normality,
autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperkinetic disorder, anxiety disorders, depressive disorder,
bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders and substance use disorders. Some of the children and adolescents suffering from these problems require inpatient treatment.
This new ward will help in providing inpatient services to Children & Adolescents suffering from mental health problems. This will help in strengthening the training programme of D.M. course in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. The trained students will help in dissemination of service & manpower development in this field in other parts of country.
