Raleigh-Durham International Airport confirmed that JetBlue flight 281 declared an emergency and diverted to Raleigh.

Thereafter it landed safely just after 1 p.m. The Embraer 190 jet was carrying 98 people aboard as specified by Patrick Glace, a spokesman of the jetliner. Fire trucks lined the runway as the airplane landed, said Glace, following protocol in such cases.

In a brief statement JetBlue added that the flight had diverted to Raleigh ‘out of abundance of caution’ after maintenance concern was reported.

FlightAware, a flight tracking site indicates that the flight departing from Charlotte’s airport just after noon that it was bound for New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

It was rescheduled to continue to JFK at 2:10 p.m, the site states, with an expected landing at 3:12 p.m.

The plane was finally expected to arrive in New York at 10:24 p.m., Vieser told the Observer in an email said later Thursday.
