Criminal gang busted in Jharkhand

Eight armed criminals were arrested while they were planning to commit serial crime including killing of a politician and in the steel city here last night, a today said.

A police team has recovered two semi-automatic pistols, two country-made pistols, 45 live cartridges of 7.65 bore, 12 rounds of .315 bore, four motorcycles and mobile phones from their possession, Senior of Police, said.

Addressing a press conference jointly with of Police (city) Prabhat Kumar, Birtharay said they had specific information that a group of criminals had gathered at a company quarter in a farm area under Kadma police station last night.

A police team headed by Kumar was formed to apprehend the criminals.

Accordingly, the team comprising several police station officers-in-charge conducted a raid and arrested eight criminals while six to secen others managed to escape under the cover of darkness, he said.

The arrested told the police during interrogation that they had planned to kill one contractor, he said adding that they had also opened fire on one person of Kadma locality to mislead the police.

The criminals also confessed that they were involved in the firing on a recently in Sakchi.

A case has been registered under station in this regard and further investigation was on, he added.
