Speed limits vary between countries, so it's important you know what they are, even when you're vacationing in Europe. Take a look at how fast can you drive there...

Most modern cars allow you to change from miles per hour (mph) to kilometres per hour (kph) but it is always worth checking for specific rules, and signs.

Understanding the rules

No country is the same and the rules of the road are bound to change. While we are accustomed to driving on the left side of the road here in SA, most countries drive on the right.

The Autobahn in Germany is an example where motorists can zip from city to city without worrying about speeds, although there are certain sections where speeding restrictions apply which is limited to 130km/h.

There are even speed restrictions for driving in the rain and for those who fail to adhere to these rules won't get away with it.
