Amazon's Alexa Cast makes it easier to cast Amazon Music to Alexa-enabled devices

Amazon's Alexa Cast makes it easier to cast Amazon Music to Alexa-enabled devices Amazon has introduced a new feature called Alexa Cast that allows for better music control on Alexa-enabled devices.

This feature which is rolling out starting today, will enable users to play music and control music playback on their Alexa-enabled devices from the Amazon Prime Music iOS and Android apps.

One can update their Amazon Prime Music mobile app and head over to the “now playing” view on the Amazon Prime music app to find the Alexa Cast icon. Tapping the icon will bring a list of all available Alexa enabled devices to cast and begin playing the music.

Amazon says users will be able to quickly switch between voice and Amazon Prime Music app controls and the Prime Music app will match the progress of the music playback to facilitate this functionality.

In a sense, this seems like Amazon's take on Google Cast that allows users to play and control audio and video content on compatible devices like Smart TVs and speakers from their phone, tablet or computer.

That said, Alexa Cast is limited to only Amazon Prime Music as of now and we hope it is extended to Amazon's video offering Prime Video in forthcoming future. It is also unclear whether Amazon plans to open up this functionality to third party app developers.
