Three-month-old Chiranjeevi was son of Sankar (25) and Ganga Devi (23). Sankar, a coolie, used to work in a different district while his wife used to live with the baby in a thatched-roofed house in Sirugamani. 

On Wednesday night, Ganga reportedly fed the baby and the two went to sleep together. Suddenly, there was a power cut and thereafter, Ganga woke up and was shocked to see the baby was missing. Thereafter, she went in search of the baby but couldn’t find him. 

Pettaivaithalai police registered a case based on a complaint by Ganga. A search is on for the baby. Meanwhile, the Ganga’s relatives alleged that the baby was kidnapped by child lifters. They also claimed that the baby was taken away for human sacrifice. Further investigation is on.
