The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday said the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) had granted mandatory approval for operation of the Pink Line corridor between Lajpat Nagar and Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus metro stations.

Commuters will be able to travel on the line as soon as certain conditions and stipulations suggested by the CMRS are fulfilled by the DMRC. The 8.1-km stretch has six stations, with two interchange stations — INA and Lajpat Nagar.

While INA metro station will connect commuters to the Yellow Line (HUDA City Centre and Samaypur Badli), at Lajpat Nagar station they will be able to switchover to the Violet Line (Kashmere Gate and Escorts Mujesar).

The first segment of the Pink Line between Majlis Park and the South Campus stations was thrown open to the public in March.

“With opening of this section, the Majlis Park-Lajpat Nagar section will become 29.66 km long and the length of the operational network will be 296 km,” said DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal.

Pink Line is part of the Delhi Metro’s phase-III project.
