In what is being viewed as an additional stamp of recognition for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s future roles in New Delhi former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is likely to meet her in Kolkata on Friday, sources said.

The National Conference leader will meet the CM at State administrative headquarters: Nabanna, where the two sides are likely to discuss a host of issues, including prospects of fielding united Opposition against the Narendra Modi Government in the 2019. Banerjee is likely to invite Abdullah to attend the January 19 grand rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. Mamata Banerjee had earlier given a call for a grand rally of all the anti-BJP parties in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, in a relevant development the Chief Minister has raised objections against the appearance of the Prime Minister’s picture in the national crop insurance policy, when “60 per cent of the insurance premium is given by the State and the Centre only contributes 40 per cent towards it,” sources said.
