18 new tanks sanctioned

The State government has sanctioned 18 new minor irrigation tanks in Adilabad, Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts which will irrigate 4,539 acres cumulatively.

According to a press release the government has sanctioned ₹ 23.42 crore for stage I work on these tanks.

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao asked Irrigation officials to take up work on land acquisition and resettlement and rehabilitation as soon as possible. The funds for stage I work are meant for these activities, he added.

The proposed tanks are of different capacities and irrigation potential. The largest of those irrigating 1,001 acres will come up at Khairi in Wankidi mandal of K.B. Asifabad district.

Mr. Harish Rao had earlier sanctioned 26 tanks for these districts. The new tanks were sanctioned by him to keep the promise which he had made to the people of these districts.
