Karwaan, starring Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar in the lead roles, is all set to hit the screens on August 3. It’s a road movie and the stars of the film decided to hit the road in a similar fashion before the release of their film.

Because Irrfan is undergoing treatment for neuroendocrine tumour in London, the trip took place without him. While the film shows a road trip within Kerala, this trip took place between Mumbai and Lonavala.

Director Akarsh Khurana was also with Dulquer and Mithila during the journey. Karwaan is going to be the debut film for both the leads in Bollywood. While Dulquer has already cemented his place in the Malayalam film industry, he will have to start from the scratch in Bollywood. Mithila is a known face for the younger audience, thanks to her web shows and YouTube videos.

In an earlier interview with the Hindustan Times, Mithila talked about her working relationship with director Akarsh Khurana. She said, “Let me tell you a secret about my director, Akarsh Khurana. He was also the writer (of Karwaan), and he knows how to find humour in everything. He changed his perspective on each situation. Death is seen at an emotional level, but he had the ability to infuse humour in it without trivialising it. That has reflected a lot in the film.”

Karwaan will battle it out with Mulk and Fanney Khan at the box office that are releasing on the same day.
