PUNE: The ruling
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership has planned disciplinary action against the corporators, who disrupted the general body meeting held on Thursday.
The BJP had to adjourn the meeting after the agitation and ruckus over Maratha reservations.
The members of
Shiv Sena,
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena,
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress staged an agitation in the House.
The agitation aggravated and some elected members went into the well of the House and damaged some items kept on the mayor’s table.
The BJP members reacted to the acts of the opposition members and ran towards them to stop them. After the high- voltage drama, the decision was taken to adjourn the meeting.
The agitating corporators expressed their displeasure over BJP’s stand on their demand. They claimed that the ruling party leaders insulted the Maratha community compelling them to launch an agitation.
However, the BJP leadership did not buy the argument and said that they will take action against those who have damaged public property.
“The way some elected members behaved was wrong. They did not follow the decorum of this house. Disciplinary action against them will be considered in the days to come,” said Shreenath Bhimale, leader of house and BJP’s leader in PMC.
