NEW DELHI: The Indian
Air Force will not lower its guard and continue to remain on alert, Air Force chief
BS Dhanoa said on Friday.
His remark came in response to questions on peace overtures with India by
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, who is tipped to be the next prime minister of the country after his party surged ahead of rivals in national polls.
Khan had yesterday said that Pakistan is willing to improve its ties with India.
"If they take one step towards us, we will take two, but at least need a start," 65-year-old Khan said in his first public address after leading his party to victory in the general elections held yesterday.
"Indian Air Force is always on a state of alert. We have got a particular response time and there is no change in that," Dhanoa told reporters.
The air chief marshal also said they are currently doing obsolescence management for the Jaguar aircraft.
"How can we do it? We have to get spare parts from other countries. Some are expensive while others are quite cheaper. We have 118 Jaguar aircraft of late, and we expect them to be operative for the next 10 years," Dhanoa added.
