Heavy rains continue in Himachal

on Friday continued to experience heavy rains with Gohar in district recording the highest rainfall at 207 mm, an said.

Many roads in interiors of district were closed to traffic after torrential rains and landslides.

"Monsoon was aggressive across the state during the last 24 hours. Precipitation occurred at most places with very heavy rainfall in Solan, Bilaspur and districts," a told IANS.

He said heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at some places in the state till Sunday.

Solan town got 100 mm of rain, while Sundernagar in district received 64.7 mm, Kufri 52 and Una 37.4 mm.

State capital Shimla got just 47.7 mm rain.

There were reports of link road closure in interiors of Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi and Kullu districts, hampering movement of traffic. Roads in district were affected more.

A said the Satluj, Beas and Yamuna rivers and their tributaries are in spate in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and districts.
