Indore: ED takes over properties of Patel brothers in Devi Ahilya society scam

Indore: Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday took possession of attached properties worth Rs 60 lakh belonging to Patel brothers who were associated with Devi Ahilya Grah Nirman Society. The ED officers with help of MP police took possession of properties of Dilawer Patel, Mohammed Islam Patel and Sohrab Patel. The properties include farm lands located in Khajarana and Makodia (Sanwer tehsil).

After taking over the property, ED placed board on farm lands and informed the office of registrar, stamps and registration, to prevent their sale.  ED had attached the properties in 2013, which was later confirmed by its adjudicating authority. On July 16, ED had filed chargesheet before Additional District Judge Samresh Singh against Patel brothers under Sections 45 of PLMA Act, 2002.

Patels took money from members of Devi Ahilya Grah Nirman Society but did not allocate them plots. They used members’ money to purchase personal lands. Bobby Chhabra, the perpetrator of several land scams and society Ranvir Singh Sudan pulled the strings from behind. On August 8, 2010, the police had registered FIR against Patels under Sections 418, 420 and 120B of IPC for embezzling society funds collected from members to the tune of Rs 3 crore.
