The Adivasis of erstwhile united Adilabad district and others on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Sidam Shambhu, the founder of Adivasi Hakkula Porata Samithi or Tudum Debba, at his reisdence at Mathadiguda in Utnoor mandal during ‘divve maluswal’ or the traditional condolence meeting.
Shambhu had died on July 20 after battling illness leaving behind two wives and six children. Speakers recalled the days when he founded the organisation to struggle for rights of the aboriginal tribes along with leaders in other districts. He was considered to be the first leader of ethnic people in the district.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier handed over ₹ 10,000 as financial aid to family of the departed leader. He interacted with the family members and assured them of help.
