Recalls affect every vehicle. For example, a few years back Chevy’s Cobalt compact had a problem with its ignition system that General Motors management refused to acknowledge, at first. After a few years of coaxing – and more than a few regulatory actions – GM admitted there was a problem with the ignition and it recalled some millions of vehicles, to fix the problem.

General Motors Faced Major Recall Costs

Of course, GM also was faced with fines and set up a $565 million fund that was used to pay for the deaths and severe injuries that the problem caused. And, a monitor kept Chevy honest.

With that said, recently there has a been a host of recalls some of which touched on supercars and hypercars. Indeed, they are not immune to recalls. In this, the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster was recalled to fix a problem which it was working to do. And, now, a Bugatti, the noted hypercar manufacturer, has called back a pair of Chirons with a problem in the side airbags. Bugatti Discusses the Recall Repair Moment

Seat’s Heat Shield Incorrectly Installed

It seems that a heat shield may not have been correctly installed, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The safety agency said that “the heat generated could, under certain external temperature conditions, reduce the performance of the airbag.”

The particular safety made by Key Safety Systems at its Romanian plant. According to the NHTSA’s chronology, Bugatti discovered the problem “during a production test of airbag deployment under high-temperature conditions.” Bugatti found traces next to the airbag’s gas generator.
