Khallikote loot case busted: 6 arrested

Police on Wednesday busted the Khallikote loot case involving Rs 25.30 lakh by arresting six miscreants, including the mastermind, and seizing Rs 10.15 lakh from them, informed Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar.

It may be noted that five miscreants coming on bikes had snatched away Rs 25.30 lakh at gunpoint from an employee of the Gorapalli tollgate at Haridamula Chhack on July 2. The employee was going to deposit the cash in the Axis Bank then.

A team led by Additional SP Ajay Pratap Swain, Chhatrapur SDPO Ramesh Chandra Sethi, Khallikote PS IIC Bibikananda Swain Kodala PS IIC Sussant Sethi, Hinjili PS IIC Prasant Kumar Sahu conducted raids many places and arrested six miscreants.

Apart from Rs 10.15 lakh in cash, the police also seized 13 mobiles, a laptop, a pistol, three live bullets, a Bolero van, a car and three motorcycles from them.

The arrested miscreants were identified as Sanjib Mallick (34), Prasant Kumar Sethi (24), Subash Behera of Ghatagaon area in Keonjhar district, K Ramesh Das of Puri, Jogendra Behera of Bolagarh area in Khordha district and G Srinivash of the Kakinada area of Andhra Pradesh.
