India’s overnight batsmen in the warm-up match against Essex were in for a surprise as they stepped on to the field on the second morning.

The duo of Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya were given a musical and colourful welcome by a group of performers doing the bhangra dance. The performers were clad in colourful attire and gave the two Indian batsmen a warm welcome.

The entry might have been a colourful one but the Indians did not have a great start to the day with Karthik perishing early. He though remained the highest scorer of the Indian innings with a score of 82.

Karun Nair also departed early but Hardik Pandya continued to complete a half-century.

Rishabh Pant came out as the last batsman and showcased his ability to strike the ball hard as he remained unbeaten 34. Ravindra Jadeja was the last batsman to be dismissed as India’s innings folded on 395.
