GHAZIABAD: A 26-year-old
labourer was
shot dead on Wednesday while he was
sleeping in the courtyard of his house in Loni. He has been identified as Rashiqh, a resident of Chirodi village.
After having dinner on Tuesday, Rashiqh was sleeping on a cot near the entrance of house when he was
shot by unknown assailants. His family members told police that they found him shot in the head around 2.30am.
On the basis of a complaint filed by Rashiqh’s father Dilshad, an FIR has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC in Loni police station.
His body was sent for autopsy and the report has revealed a single gunshot wound on top of his head as the cause of death.
Probe revealed that Rashiqh’s wife and four minor kids were also sleeping on separate cots in the courtyard. “Family members have told they tried to rush him to GTB Hospital in Delhi after finding him lying in a pool of blood on the cot. However, they returned home when he succumbed to his injuries on the way,” said Umesh Kumar Singh, SHO, Loni police station. TNN
