Plunging necklines, a bare back or something short, sweet, and super sleek — who says occasion wear and cocktail lehengas need to be prim and proper? Sexy and edgy made a statement without being overbearing on the runways of ’s debut India Couture Week 2018 collection at Taj Palace, New Delhi on Thursday. Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan turned showstopper for the designer duo in a bold glittery lehenga that’s ideal for the woman who wants flaunt her figure.

If you’re a bold bride looking for sexy wedding lehengas or dresses, you’ll find plenty of gorgeous styles boasting plunging necklines and backlines, snug silhouettes, sheer fabric, and unexpected cutout bodices at Falguni Shane Peacock’s debut collection at ICW 2018, which is presented by Hindustan Times and Sunil Sethi Design Alliance. The designers showcased styles that focus on flattering the shape of the bride’s body to truly enhance her bridal style — whether through nude lining or a special blending of fabrics. Whether you want to sparkle in all-over crystals, show off a subtle sheen, or flirt with a glimmering pattern, Falguni Shane Peacock gave us all.

Let’s get real — we definitely loved the feather-tastic lehengas with the long trains. But every fashion-forward woman out there will agree that there’s nothing like a short sophisticatedly sexy dress to show off your modern style, not to mention those rocking legs. If Falguni Shane Peacock’s latest line is any indication, wearing a short dress with a long embellished train for an engagement party, or a reception can suit every style — minimal, modern and sleek, classic, bohemian, or romantic. All over crystal beadwork and feather details made their fitted minis shine. While with long illusion sleeves and a sheer neckline, they were perfect for the glam bride looking for something contemporary.

Falguni and Shane Peacock showed that while last season’s wedding and occasion wear fashion trends aren’t going anywhere (off-the-shoulder, metallic floral appliques, feathers, all-over crystal adornment), this season saw a new take on some of our favourites. Statement sleeves were still going strong, but this season they’d been upgraded to long, sheer striped embellished sleeves that do all the talking. Off-the-shoulder, as well as high necklines were still seen and ultra-flattering, but the designers put a new spin on them with sheer details. Feather embellishments, cascading feather trains, feather cuffs, ombre feather hemline — no matter how they appeared, feathers added just the right touch of texture and glamour and had the models floating on air. The collection was all about being bold and embracing your inner rock star with statement-making looks you can’t miss.

“We have drawn our inspiration from a tale in which a Parisian queen is invited to the resplendent Junagarh Palace in Rajasthan, which is known for its meticulous architecture and grandeur. A mela (local carnival) is orchestrated in the honour of the queen, who is left mesmerised by the majestic and royal nature of the occasion,” the designers told Hindustan Times in an interview, before their show.

The palette remained eccentric with muted tones and pastel domination in full play. If you’re planning for a 2018 wedding, soft shades like bleached sand, pink champagne, rose smoke, grey dawn, silt green, smoky grey, whisper pink dusk, storm grey are perfect. But Falguni Shane Peacock’s latest collection showed that ultra-feminine and romantic lavender, aka the prettiest shades of purple, is delightfully sweet yet elevated, especially in a modern silhouette.
