Bhayandar: A 14-year-old boy, Sagar Dashrath Dhangar, who had been reported missing from Mharalgaon, Kalyan, since January 15, 2015, was reunited with his parents on the basis of his Aadhaar information on Tuesday. According to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Thane (rural) police, the specially-abled boy had gone missing from his tenement in 2015.
After their efforts to trace the boy failed, his parents, daily wage labourers, registered a complaint at the local police station.
Thane (rural) SP Dr Mahesh Patil had recently directed AHTW personnel to expedite investigations into child-missing cases in the district. While API Sanjay Bangar and his team were scanning the missing kids’ web portal and establishing contact with children’s homes across the state, they received information about a boy lodged at a welfare home run by Navoday Rescue Foundation in Pathardi village of Ahmednagar district.
“As the boy’s biometric details, like his thumb impression, were being taken, it emerged he was already registered for Aadhaar. After the pin was entered into the system, the name of the boy and his address was revealed. We immediately contacted the family and reunited them with the boy,” said Bangar.
Apart from uttering his name, the boy was neither able to provide with the details of his family nor could he come up with any information that could help lead him back home.
