The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ set a new production car lap record of 06:44:97 minutes at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife test track in Germany.
The Aventador, driven by Lamborghini test driver Marco Mapelli, beat the previous record of 6:45.90 minutes set by the Nio EP9.
Active aerodynamics system
The Nürburgring Nordschleife is a 20.6km-long track widely considered to the most demanding track in the world.
According to Autocar, the SVJ's 6.5-litre V12 engine produces 565kW. Lamborghini says the Aventador SVJ is made of lightweight materials that contribute to the excellent weight-to-power ratio of only 1.98 kg/hp, thus featuring an even higher power output.
Furthermore, the firm's patented ALA 2.0 active aerodynamics system with aero vectoring guarantees the best handling and downforce says the company.
What the “J” Stands for
Stefano Domenicali, Lamborghini's CEO said: "The Aventador SVJ takes the Jota suffix, following the Lamborghini tradition for denoting a car’s track-focused talent.
This new car is the convergence of Lamborghini technologies to produce a super sports car that transcends current performance benchmarks."
