TN: Hostel owner accused of sexual harassment, committed suicide

Jagannathan who was booked for reportedly sexually harassing hostel girls was found dead in a well in a farmland in Tirunelveli.

COIMBATORE: The hostel owner A Jagannathan, who was accused of sexual harassment, committed suicide by jumping into a well in a farmland in Sivalarkulam near Alankulam of Tirunelveli district on Wednesday night.

The deceased A Jagannathan(45) a native of Coinbatore, owner of a hostel in BK Puram in Coimbatore was booked for reportedly sexually harassing hostel girls. In this connection, Peelamedu police were on
the lookout for him.

Subsequently, on Thursday morning, he was found dead in a well in a farmland belong to Ambalathar, in Sivalarkulam near Alankulam of Tirunelveli district.

During the course of investigation, police came to know that he came to Tirunelveli on Wednesday afternoon to surrender before the Alankulam magistrate court. However, as he reached late in the
evening, he met his lawyer in Coutrallam and then, went to a farmland in Sivalarkulam.

In the farmland, he reportedly consumed alcohol and jumped into a 70 feet depth well that had water for only two feet. In this regard, Alankulam police have registered a case and are probing into the matter.

The deceased has also written a suicide note in which he reportedly told that he has debt of about Rs 4 crore and his business rivals have made a trap to get him into such sexual harassment case.
