COIMBATORE: Bike crazy Coimbatorians could probably hang around the Mettupalayam Road, the Avinashi Road and Palladam to see some of the fastest Indian and imported motorcycles zoom past them.
The fifth round of the MRF MOGRIP FMSCI national rally championship for two-wheelers will take place in the city this weekend. More than 75 riders are expected to participate.

The rally will begin at Hotel Gokulam Park in Chinniampalayam at 5pm on Saturday. The bikes will be flagged off by Sulur MLA R Kanagaraj.

The bikes will then ride 111.1km, and the route will include Black Thunder and Kethanur in Palladam.

“The rally route includes a mix of dirt and gravel special stages. The two special stages will be the Black Thunder Stage which will be 14.85km and Thunder World stage which will be 14.45km. Vehicles will ride twice in the same direction,” said Coimbatore Auto Sports Club secretary J Prithiviraj.

The rally, promoted by Pune-based Godspeed, will have around 10 stages, including one exclusively for riders from Tamil Nadu, one exclusively for ladies and another for scooters.

Many superbikes and super sport bikes, both Indian and imported, are expected to be a part of the event.
