Share market update: Equity market moves higher; these stocks make merry

NEW DELHI: Equity market was on an upward trajectory in morning trade on Thursday with both key indices, Sensex and Nifty50, touching fresh record highs.

Shares of Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 16.09 per cent) zoomed over 15 per cent in a buoyant market.

Stocks such as Prism Johnson (up 8.51 per cent), Adani Green Energy (up 8.38 per cent), Ambuja Cements (up 7.75 per cent), Sanghi Industries (up 6.84 per cent), Rites (up 6.56 per cent) and Shree Renuka Sugars (up 5.02 per cent) too were witnessing decent traction.

Equity benchmarks touched fresh record high on buying in bank, financial, auto and teck stocks amid sustained capital inflow and positive global cues.

Short-covering of bets on the last session of the futures and options contracts of July series and strengthening rupee against the dollar, kept the overall market sentiment high.

The NSE Nifty index was trading 36 points up at 11,168, while the BSE Sensex was up 123 points at 36,982 around 10:25 am.

In the Nifty index, 32 stocks were in the green, while 18 were in the red.

State Bank of India, Ultratech Cement, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Eicher Motors and Grasim Industries were leading the pack of Nifty gainers.
