Andhra Pradesh Grameen Vikas Bank (APGVB) Chairman V. Narsi Reddy narrowly escaped from an alleged kidnap bid by four miscreants on the Khammam-Warangal highway in Tirumalayapalem mandal on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred when Mr. Reddy was travelling in a car towards Warangal after a meeting in Kothagudem along with another official of the bank at 7 p.m. Sources said four unidentified persons followed in another car, overtook his vehicle and stopped it in the middle of the road near Madiripuram. They assaulted driver of Mr. Reddy’s car who got down from the vehicle and tried to talk with them. In the melee, Mr. Reddy and his colleague made an attempt to stop a bus heading to Warangal and to board it. As the bus came to a an abrupt halt right behind their car, the miscreants fled, sources said.
The Tirumalayapalem police rushed to the spot and launched a hunt for the miscreants.
The driver of Mr. Reddy’s car, who suffered minor injuries in the attack, was shifted to a nearby hospital.
