CHENNAI: There is a sudden spike in daytime temperature and by and large it is cloudy in the evenings in Chennai with sporadic rainfall in the last couple of days. Weather experts say this would continue till August first week.
On Wednesday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam 38.2 degrees Celsius, which are 2.7 degrees and 3.6 degrees above normal respectively. Even night-time temperature is above normal by at least two degrees.
Weather experts say this will continue for another two weeks. Noted weather blogger Pradeep John says brisk showers here and there will happen for a few minutes and this pattern of rain will continue in the coming days. “Rains will continue, but it will all be brief spells. Not all parts of the city will get rain and some spells can last 15-20 minutes.”
