An Assistant Engineer of the Chengalvarayan Cooperative Sugar Mills at Periyasevalai near Ulundurpet committed suicide in his house in the mill quarters on Wednesday.
The police said Mr. Saravanan, hailing from Alankuppam near Thirukovilur, was working as an AE while his wife Kavitha was employed as a teacher in a school run by the mill.
On Wednesday, Mr. Saravanan committed suicide by hanging from a hook fixed to the ceiling in the quarters. Mr. Saravanan was immediately rushed to the Ulundurpet Government Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.
A case has been registered.
