A six-member delegation of Bhutan’s Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is on a five-day visit to meet officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Central Vigilance Commission and the Bureau of Police Research and Development.
The delegation is headed by ACC Chairman Aum Kinley Yangzom. “The visit is a part of exchange programme to enhance cooperation between the two countries in fighting economic and conventional crime and help in capacity building,” said an official.
CBI Director Alok Kumar Verma, through a press release, said, “CBI’s experience and competency in fighting corruption, organised crime and economic frauds can be of great value to our sister agencies in neighbouring countries. We are engaged with Bhutan in capacity building and experience sharing. I feel this cooperation will be mutually beneficial since fighting economic crimes today transcends traditional boundaries.”
The agency conducts tailor-made, country-specific courses for officers from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. As decided, 30 officers each from these countries will be trained this year on various courses.
“Officers from Maldives, Nepal Cambodia, Palestine and several African nations have attended training courses at the CBI Academy,” said the official.
