Two men to face Brisbane court on people smuggling, immigration charges
Two men have been charged with people smuggling and immigration offences after being intercepted by Australian Border Force officers upon landing in Brisbane last weekend.
Yongping Wei, a 42-year-old Chinese national, and Ching-Chuan Lin, a 52-year-old Taiwanese national, were flagged by an ABF Airline Liason Officer as they left Indonesia.
The pair were intercepted at Brisbane Airport on Sunday, held in immigration detention and later arrested and charged by the Australian Federal Police.
The Taiwanese man was charged with bringing non-citizens into Australia. The Chinese man was charged with possessing, making or providing false foreign travel documents.
Both men were remanded in custody and due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
